Savon Beldi is a Moroccan gommage soap as used in the hammam spa ritual. Rich in black olive oil, the soap is semi-solid and has a gooey consistency and an earthy herbal aroma (of olives) with a sometimes sweeter base note. The colour of the soap ranges from a light brown to a deeper brown depending on the olive harvest and the olive pomace the soap is made of. Over time the soap can liquidify more especially if stored in a warm environment.
Savon Beldi has the unique ability to open skin's pores and loosening dead skin cells. The soap does not foam and is therefore extremely gentle to your skin.
The process of ridding skin of dead cells and flakes is completed by using a kassa (or kessa) glove afterwards, washing with rhassoul clay and then massaging argan oil into your still moist skin. Then rest for a good hour.
To Use: Best used in the shower. Apply liberally all over wet skin. Leave for 5-10 minutes. Rinse well.
For the hammam experience use with one of our kassa gloves. After treating your skin with Savon Beldi use the kassa (or kessa) glove and gently rub over your skin all over your body. Follow with rhassoul clay and wash your whole body with this. Rinse again, then towel your skin dry and finish with a massage of argan oil which keeps your skin well moisturized and soft.
Our kassa gloves come in two options: the original glove which has camel hair and sheep wool woven into its cotton fabric and is for a deep cleansing exfoliation for skin that suffers from blemishes or when you feel you want to get rid of dry patches. The modern version is for more sensitive skin. It gently exfoliates the skin. Made from 100% cotton.
