Unique baskets you won't find  anywhere else. Functional, practical and absolutely beautiful these baskets may attract a premium price but they will last a lifetime! I even know women who passed them on as heirlooms to their daughters and grand daughters....

Woven from a sturdy combination of njodax grass and recycled plastic strips, each tote is totally unique -  finished with nicely tailored leather handles.

I am excited about each new product emerging from the Wolof villages my contact is working with in Senegal. Not only do these baskets bring new colour to our selection and earn rural Wolof women fair trade income, but they serve as beautiful functional art you will love for years to come.

Each basket comes with an information card signed by the weaver.

The size of these baskets is approximately 35 - 40 cm ( 14 -16") diameter and 35 - 40 cm (14 - 16") tall without handles. The Dakar market baskets are quite sturdy and extremely durable. The colour combination varies and is random (i.e. not every basket's colours are as shown on the picture - there may be blue at the top or green or yellow....)
