Bolgatanga Baskets from Ghana

Coming from the Bolgatanga region of Ghana, these baskets are traditionally used for carrying goods to and from the market. Weavers in the region use the abundant Elephant grass to weave these incredibly hardy, useful baskets. The leather wrapped handle adds to the durability.

Note: our baskets are natural sisal with a black leather handle (the picture shows a brown leather handle).

Easily reshape your basket by quickly submerging in water (keep leather dry), reshape by hand and hang to dry.

Size: approx. 35 - 42 cm wide and 20 - 28 cm high (excl. handles).

Note: although these baskets are very strong we advise not to overload them with really heavy items such as too many logs as otherwise the handle can snap. Load capacity limit is approx. 12 kgs.
